According to Refinery 29, who got the scoop from Moss’ hair stylist Oribe on Sunday during his La Fama hair show in Miami, Moss will appear on the cover of the January 2014 issue for Playboy's 60th anniversary.

Whether it's just a rumour remains to be seen but is the news all that surprising?

For one thing, landing the cover of Playboy isn’t exactly scandalous. Celebs who have posed (Kim Kardashian, Tara Reid, Denise Richards, Drew Barrymore) have done so wearing bathing suits or T-shirts. Madonna wore a black jacket over a black lace shirt and black pants on one of her Playboy covers, and even former Playmates Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson, Hugh Hefner’s ex-girlfriends and stars of the reality television show, “The Girls Next Door” posed wrapped head-to-toe in a bed sheet. Plus, the celebs that have gone naked for the cover, such as Lindsay Lohan and Pam Anderson, strategically covered themselves with a prop.

Also, we don’t need to rely on Playboy if we want to see Kate Moss naked. If you haven’t seen her fully in the flesh, see here, here, here, and here. Oh, and here.

What’s far more interesting than a naked Kate Moss is the how the world of lad mags and high fashion has become seemingly interchangeable. In May, bikini model and curvy lad mag favorite Kate Upton bounced her way onto the cover of the fashion bible Vogue, a move that signified the high fashion world adopting a more flexible view of beauty. And now Moss, naturally beautiful and chicer than the voluptuous babes that usually land Playboy, may be its next unlikely cover star.

It's no secret that Playboy is trying to re-brand, relying less on their classic tanned, bleached blonde, big-breasted mascot in order to appeal to the fairer sex. According to a June story published in Salon, to rally a new generation of Playboy readers, CEO Scott Flanders said, “We’ve got to be female-friendly. We’ve got to create events that women are as comfortable attending as men.” And putting Moss, a big departure from the typical Playboy model, on the cover may be one way to achieve that.

Only time will tell whether Moss will really appear on Playboy. But the world will be watching!

Garry, skeleton??? She is slim. You have been living amongst the fat muffin tops in this country for far to long to recognise a good body. Woman so fat in NZ that their feet do not even fit in normal shoes and all have to wear jandals. Flucking yeck
