Hollywood heavyweight Reese Witherspoon is reportedly “furious” at longtime friend Nicole Kidman.
Reese is reportedly unhappy over her Aussie co-star’s failure to promote their HBO TV series Big Little Lies – and she thinks Nicole used too much airtime discuss her latest Hollywood film, Lion in a recent interview.
While Big Little Lies hasn't rated well in the US, the Australian market has embraced the series, with its debut episode outranking any other HBO series on Foxtel.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s well received in Australia – it’s not a big enough marketplace to justify another season," an insider told New Idea.
"This isn’t the first time that Reese who turns 41 this week, and Nicole, 49, have been at odds, with stress levels running high during filming."
While the pair were careful to keep the tension as low-key as possible, the insider said they still had moments where things bubbled over.
"They were always all smiles for the cast and crew, but there were definitely some tense arguments when on-set," the insider said.
However a representative close to both actresses told Daily Mail Australia that the story is "completely incorrect".
"Everyone is thrilled to the back teeth with Big Little Lies," the source said. "They're great friends, they love each other and they love the way each other works."
