Tom Trnski of the Australian Museum in Sydney holds a vial with a specimen of the Schindleria Brevipinguis or Stout Infantfish, believed to be the world's smallest vertebrate Wednesday, July 7, 2004. The tiny fish reaches no more than 7 to 8 millimeters long and was discovered 20 years ago and scientists have studied the minute minnow to better understand its life cycle before releasing the news of the discovery.
