Thanks to the phenomenal success of Twilight, vampire fever is sweeping the globe. And caught in the spotlight is the film's young cast, who are about to be splashed across New Zealand's silver screens in the hotly anticipated sequel New Moon.

New Idea has delved behind the scenes to uncover 15 sizzling secrets from the set.

Has Kristen Stewart really switched to Team Jacob? What does Robert Pattinson smell like? And will Taylor Lautner ever tire of maxing his muscles? Read on to find out...

• Kristen and Robert were busted sneaking off together. A witness at the Comic-Con event saw them climb into separate cars, but then they circled back and Kristen jumped into Rob's limo. Nice try, guys.
• Filming was torture for Taylor. The leading man shot scenes in the rain for 12 hours straight while wearing little more than denim shorts. 'It was so cold,' he admits.
• Peter Facinelli, who plays Dr Carlisle Cullen, would choose Kristen to babysit his three daughters. 'She's very level-headed and I would trust her with my kids,' he says.
• The cast acted up in front of green screens. New Moon features more special effects than Twilight, so much of the wow factor was created in the studio using computer tricks.
• Taylor and Kristen have a soft spot for a particular New Moon moment. The pair bonded over a scene in which Jacob says goodbye to Bella before he goes into battle. 'She's scared for me,' Taylor says.
• Kristen bats for Team Jacob. She wrapped her arms around Taylor, not Rob, when asked at Comic-Con whose side she was on.
• Ashley Greene never takes off Alice Cullen's commitment ring. 'I've literally had it on since Twilight,' she says of the ring given to her character by Jasper (Jackson Rathbone).
• Peter's a culinary wizard. The Cullen patriarch invites Rob and company over for dinner when they're filming. 'He's a great cook,' says Nikki Reed, who plays his adopted daughter Rosalie Hale.
• Taylor's still hitting the gym. The 17 year-old added 12kg of muscle for new moon, and aims to pile on another five in time for the third film, Exclipse.
• Rob 'misplaced' his car. He's so busy that he can't remember where he parked his wheels in LA. 'It's probably been towed by now,' he says. 'It was the first car I ever bought.'
• The cast hasn't actually seen New Moon yet. 'We've just seen the same clips the fans have seen,' Taylor says.
• Ashley wants to do her own stunts for Eclipse. 'I'm throwing myself into a stunt class, martial arts and dance. I'm going to do as much as they let me,' she says.
• Rob and Kristen both smell nice. 'Kristen has awesome perfume,' says Kellan Lutz, who plays Emmett. 'Rob has a natural BO that's quite lovely.'
• Kellan is a video-game geek. 'I'm obsessed with Risk: Global Domination,' he admits. 'I always have to win.'
• There may be more than four films. Spin-offs are being considered to continue the series after the film of the final book is completed.
