THE PERFECT . . . JOY RIDE

Heat things up before you even reach your destination. Inject a hint of fantasy into the weekend by renting a fancy set of wheels. Sports Car Rentals Online (scronline.com.au) can help you to get behind the wheel of anything from a Ferrari to a Bentley.

En route, play the "I like" game, suggests Aussie sexologist and author of Spicy Sex Dr Gabrielle Morrissey. Whenever you see a sign indicating the kilometres to your destination, each of you has to confess a bedroom manouevre that you'd like to try. "This puts sex firmly on the agenda," says Morrissey. "And you can bear these things in mind when you do finally arrive."

THE PERFECT . . . SWEET TREAT

The aphrodisiac cookbook, Venus in the Kitchen, lists sparrows' brains and sow's vulva among its fearsome list of edible arousers. But we're sticking with chocolate as it's easier to slip into an overnight bag. Scientists at the Mind Lab in the UK found that women become more sexually aroused from eating dark chocolate than they do from kissing.

To maximise the effects, opt for chocolate that contains 65 per cent cacao. Cacao contains methylxanthines, stimulants that increase sensitivity and, with a little help from you, should have her screaming, "Holy cacao!"

THE PERFECT . . . FOAM PARTY

Miniature toiletries, thick towels, fluffy bathrobes and curiously folded toilet roll aren't the only things hotel bathrooms have to offer.

Morrissey suggests you get clean and dirty by hopping into the shower with your partner armed with scented bath oils. "Use the slipperiness of the lather to begin teasing handiwork on your partner's nether reasons," explains Morrisey. "Really concentrate on how erotic your partner's skin feels under your wet, slick touch." If there's a spa bath in the room, slide in there instead.

THE PERFECT . . . SEX TOYS

"A dirty weekend gives you permission to try new things in the bedroom," says adultshop.com's Elizabeth Martin. "Forget the same old positions and don't be afraid to let your naughty streak show!" If the Ramsey Rabbit vibrator ($69.95) or Kama Sutra Intensifying Gel ($59.95) don't float her boat, Martin suggests you try intensifying foreplay with Sizzling Body Candy ($12.95). Sprinkle some on your tongue or your partner's naked body - the particles give a tantalising tingle when activated by a kiss, lick or nibble.

THE PERFECT . . . LINGERIE

The right lingerie can help turn a good girl bad. "There's nothing quite like the feel of a luxurious fabric next to your skin," says Despina Michael, from upmarket lingerie boutique im (imboutique.com.au). Start off by ascertaining the sizes, styles and colours that your partner wears. But to tease out her inner sexpot, it's all about sourcing quality pieces that whisper decadent sophistication. "Waist-cinchers are the latest provocative accessory that are extremely popular at the moment," says Michael. "But don't forget the stockings!"
