This year, at least two films will delve into Chanel's dramatic past, revealing how the one-time country girl rose to become the doyenne of fashion. The first film, Coco Avant Chanel (Coco Before Chanel), stars the new face of Chanel's No. 5 fragrance, Audrey Tautou (of Amélie fame), while the second movie, Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky, due out later this year, features the star of Chanel's Allure Sensuelle perfume campaign, Anna Mouglalis. There are also rumours of a third project. It remains to be seen which film will triumph, but, given Chanel's artistic director Karl Lagerfeld has opened the house archives for both movies, they're sure, at the very least, to appeal to fashion fans.

Coco Avant Chanel is in cinemas from June 25.
