The look: A textured ponytail
Why it's hot now: "Ponytails are summer hair's best friend as they keep strands off the face and neckline," says Barney Gleeson, of Lee Preston Hairdressing in Perth.
How to do it: "Let your hair dry naturally and rake it back with your fingers. This provides a soft finish," says Gleeson. "To create more interest, tie the ponytail five centimetres from your scalp and tighten by pulling a section of hair from underneath. This will give it more volume."
What you'll need: Create movement with a texturising product, like Redken Urban Experiment 8 Wool Shake, $36, or Pantene Pro-V Style Body Builder Mousse, $6.99. Protect lengths with snag-free hair ties, like Elite Hair Elastics, $6.75 for a pack of 10.
