"It has a trendy, London-girl feel," notes Charlotte Willer, Maybelline New York's international make-up director. "Eyes are defined on the lower, inner rim and the rest of the look is nude." With black eyeliner fast becoming the season's must-have product, this is just another way to wear the trend.

How to do it

Face: The Maybelline New York make-up artists who created this look for the Custo Barcelona show mixed liquid foundation with moisturiser for a super-sheer base. "When applying foundation, don't stop at your chin - take it halfway down your neck so there are no lines," explains Willer. "Apply it with your fingers as you would a cream, then blend the leftover down your neck with your hands." Keep your complexion dewy, and add a hint of colour with a touch of cream blush.
Eyes: Take a black eye pencil and run it along the lower, inner rim of each eye, working it into the lash line. Smudge with your finger for a sultry, sooty feel, or leave it clean for dramatic results. You'll only need one coat of mascara for definition without the bulk to let the liner be the feature.
Lips: Willer recommends a soft, nude colour to complement the look. Or, for something lighter, try a flesh-toned gloss.
