DEFINITION
Botanical name - Citrus reticulata var mandarin.
This essential oil is extracted from the fruit peel by cold pressing.
DESCRIPTION
Native to southern China and Far East Asia, Mandarin was later introduced to Europe and America.
Taking its name from the glowing orange coloured fruit traditionally offered by the Chinese to their dignitaries, the cold pressed peel of Citrus reticulata var madarin yields an exquisite, saffron coloured oil holding a mouth-watering, sweet yet tangy fragrance. This is a Top to Middle Note.
APPLICATIONS
GENTLE DIGESTIVE - Known in France as 'the children's remedy' because of its gentle action, Mandarin makes a mild treatment for colic, wind, and tummy upsets; use in a MASSAGE OIL BLEND and gently massage the abdomen in a clockwise direction. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.
SMOOTHING - Mandarin is a favoured oil for the skin in pregnancy. Make a MASSAGE OIL BLEND using Almond and Wheatgerm carrier oils and massage the abdomen, buttocks and thighs from the fourth month of pregnancy onwards to keep skin supple and prevent stretch marks.
STRENGTHENING - Cheery Mandarin can lighten the load when convalescing, feeling fragile or in the lead up to menstruation. Use in VAPOURISATION or enjoy an encouraging THERAPEUTIC BATH. Use only as directed and consult a health care professional if premenstrual symptoms persist.
THIS OIL MAY BE IRRITATING TO SENSITIVE SKIN AND MAY INCREASE SKIN PHOTO SENSITIVITY. DO NOT USE BEFORE EXPOSURE TO SUN.
