Having a cup of tea to ease stress is less of an old wives' tale than previously thought. A study by the University College London and multinational company Unilever, found that people who drank tea were able to manage stress much better than those who drank a tea alternative.

The study participants who drank black tea four times a day for six weeks, were found to have lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol in their blood after having experienced nerve-racking situations.

60-second boosters

Low in energy? You can get back on track in just 60 seconds by doing just one of these reviving exercises.

Spinal stretch
From a standing position, exhale as you lean forward and curl into yourself. Then, as you breathe in, uncurl and reach up to the sky with your arms. Exhale and curl into yourself again before returning to a standing position.

Energy shake
Stand with your arms by your sides. Shimmy, stretch, then shimmy again.

Abdominal breathing
When you're stressed your breathing becomes shallow, depriving your body of oxygen. Place your hands on your lower abdomen. Breathe in deeply, so the inhalation pushes your hands out. Exhale, and repeat a few times.
