Cooking in Winter

These fruit and vegetables are in season during the Winter months of June, July and August.

Also in season...courgettes, spinach, and mandarins.

Why Seasonal?

Buying seasonal produce fosters an appreciation of good, fresh food. It also provides an opportunity to experiment with seasonal recipes. And it simply tastes better! You are buying produce at it's optimum taste - and price - and while you can enjoy a wonderful abundance of it.

If you are buying seasonal produce there's a good chance you are also buying local produce.

This is a wonderful way to reduce your carbon footprint by significantly reducing the environmental damage caused by shipping foods long distance, your money goes directly to the farmer so it stays in your community, and you will enjoy the health benefits of eating fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables.

Preserve the harvest

The time to make soups, broths, jams, pickles and sauces is when the produce is in season and there is plenty of it about.
