Burmese
The happy-go-lucky Burmese is a popular breed as these cats are intelligent, loving and loyal. Burmese enjoy people and get along well with other animals - even dogs. They love to perform, play and be the centre of attention. These cats are suited to both busy and quiet households.
Persian
Persians are famous for their placid, affectionate nature, which makes them suitable for most environments. They love people but don't like to be teased or have their luxurious coats pulled at, so they're best for adults or gentle kids. The trade-off for their disposition is coat maintenance - they moult heavily twice a year.
British shorthair
These sturdy cats have dense, plush coats and come in a range of colours. British shorthairs are often called the labradors of the cat world as they're patient, gentle and get along well with other cats and dogs. They're undemanding, making them ideal for busy households.
Devon Rex
This breed has big batwing ears, a short face, wide cheeks and a curly coat. These cats are warm to touch because they have a slightly higher body temperature than other cats. Their looks don't appeal to everyone, but Rexes are affectionate, inquisitive, playful and often mischievous. They shed minimal fur so people with allergies should cope well with this breed. The only maintenance is keeping them warm and dry.
