Kiss and Sell

Apr 04 11:22am

They hit the headlines and found instant celebrity. But when the fame starts to fade, what comes next? We investigate the women who have turned a fling into a fortune - and others who have fallen apart.

Rebecca Loos, 29, hit the headlines in April 2004 after selling the story of her affair with married footballer David Beckham.
In the three years since the story of her steamy affair with David Beckham broke in a UK tabloid, Rebecca Loos has done everything possible to extend her 15 minutes of fame.
She says: "People called me a liar and called me names. But at the end of the day, these are the facts. I shouldn't be ashamed of it. I was wrong to have done what I did, but it did happen and I am not going to live with a lie for the rest of my life."

Daisy Wright, 28, revealed her fling with actor Jude Law in 2005, leading to the end of his engagement to actress Sienna Miller.
Even today, Daisy Wright wishes she could turn back the clock. The nanny, who had an affair with her employer Jude Law, says she was "devastated" by the press attention after she decided to sell her story in July 2005.
"I know it sounds naive, but I didn't realise how big the story was going to be," she says. "To this day, I can't bring myself to read it."

When Lisa Robertson, 39, sold her story about her mid-air tryst with actor Ralph Fiennes in January this year, she could never have predicted the consequences.
Lying on her bed in her Sydney unit, Lisa Robertson felt helpless and alone. Ever since news of her short-lived affair with British actor Ralph Fiennes made headlines all over the world, her life had been turned upside down. She lost her job, her parents were devastated, and her brothers refused to speak to her.
"I felt I had nothing left," she explains.
Desperate for help, Lisa picked up the phone to call some friends. Most of them knew she had suffered from depression for years and that the stressful events of the past few weeks could tip her over the edge. "But it was one o'clock in the morning and they didn't want to speak to me," she says. They told her she'd be alright, that they'd talk to her tomorrow. They could never have known
that tomorrow might be too late. Convinced she had become a burden to everyone around her, Lisa decided to end her life. "I felt empty," she states simply.

Why are we even interested in these women? Robbie Williams sings about them "all you Michelles with your stories to sell... spending the night with me guarantees you celebrity". If the public didn't read their stories, noone would pay them a cent. It is so distasteful. Single adults can sleep with whoever they like, its noone else's business.

These women, they just wanna get an easy way to be glamour. It were naive to say " i didn't realize the consequence is." after all at these age. For these pitty women, if you can be glamour so easily, how would those celebrities really hardworking and put effort in their career? There's no free lunch in this world, wake up women!

I'm sorry but I have no sympathy for Lisa Robertson at all! Selling your sex story is just one step away from prostituting yourself. Why should we be made to try and feel sorry for her when she bought all this on herself??? All she was was a cheap thrill for Ralph. Did she honestly think he would want a relationship with her??

I can't believe these women! Of course they new the consequences of their actions. You don't sleep with a celebrity to then sell your story and think that nobody will care. I am sure Sienna Miller and Posh cared ALOT!!

I think it is so hilarious that these woman are chasing sympathy. You need to remember that they have just slept with another womans man and that is so disrespectful. Lisa knew perfectly well that she would have been fired for doing the nasty on flight let alone working at the time. All Qantas staff no matter where they work will lose their job for doing that. So I think she totally brought it on herself and personally have not watched the crap that they are throwing on TV about her I could not

these women knew exactly what they were doing, i think they just wanted to make a quick buck through the instant publicity. What i wonder is why would gorgeous men like Jude Law sleep with such unatractive, plain women...
