Nude, neutral-toned eye make-up is as simple to achieve as it is classic. Try this foolproof technique to get a flattering look for everyday wear.

Step 1

For long-lasting, crease-free eye make-up, apply a liquid concealer over your lids, then gently dust with translucent powder to set the concealer and aid blending.

Step 2

Apply a pale shade, such as Natio Mineral Eye Shimmer in Rose, $12.95, from your last line to the socket and blend outwards. Dab it on with a brush, rather than using a sweeping motion, to stop colour falling down onto your cheek. "When applying neutral-toned eyeshadow keep it simple," suggests Nixon. "One to two light-or mid-toned shadows will often do the trick."

Step 3

Take a slightly darker tone and blend it along your socket line to create a subtle contour for depth.

Step 4

Use a soft brown eyeliner pencil on the upper and lower lash lines and gently smudge with your ring finger for a soft finish.

Step 5

Finish with two coats of black mascara to define your look.

I work in makeup and let me tell you... DON'T put foundation on your eyelids. It's not necessary and many people have allergic reactions due to the sensitivity of the eye area. Your eyeshadow will stay on just as long is you don't put foundation underneath.

well i agree that some eyelids are sensative, but this person that psted this article most likely know what they are talking about! They are probably a makeup artist. It would have to be someone that knows what they are talking about or they would be in big trouble for affecting eyelids of hundreds.

Since I put foundation on my eyelids I noticd that my eye shadow stays better so bn doing it for yrs now. My comment is how eye makeup tips are always for caucasian ONLY. Yes this is the majority but what abt tips for Asian eyelids- we don't hv creases and mascara mks hardly any difference!

For Asian eyes, do step 1 & 2. When you come to step 3, apply a darker colour just at the corner of your eyes (use very little) and blend it inwards. Use hand to soften if neccessary. Apply brown or black eyeliner for better definition.

Curl your eyelashes before applying mascara. A little tips, the eyelash curler works better if it is heated. I usualy do mine with a hair dryer but you must be careful of the temperature. Let it cool a little if it feels too hot and always test the temperature using your hands before curling eyelash

When applying foundation, always becareful around the eyebrows, it looks like you have fake brows. It looks really bad and terrible. When under the chin spread out evenly or you will find that you have a line of foundation. So not cool when going out on a date

problem for older eyes with sagging skin is that you just dont have a crease as it just disappears......so......what there???
